“The National AIDS Council 2019 HIV, AIDS and Cancer Prevention Golf Drive, which is really a noble strategy to raise resources for the scaling up of the integrated response to HIV and Cancer. This year’s tournament is special in that it will actually conclude in October, which happens to be the Breast Cancer Awareness month!

“The National AIDS Council 2019 HIV, AIDS and Cancer Prevention Golf Drive is a noble initiative whose results we are already witnessing through the handing over of the 16 cervical cancer screening machines that were procured through funds raised from the previous golf tournament. These machines will compliment already available national services, while also expanding health care as they have multi-purpose capabilities such as screening and management of pregnancy, heart health and others.” said First Lady.

First Lady Mnangagwa also said the tournament is special in that it also underlines the importance of integrating HIV and cancer services.

“This tournament is special in that it also underlines the importance of integrating HIV and cancer services. I am told that HIV testing and cervical cancer screening services shall be available during the course of the tournament, with a particular focus on the elite who are ordinarily very difficult to reach with HIV and AIDS services due to their tight business and personal schedules. I hope they will take advantage of these services for their personal health and that of their families.

“I would like to take this opportunity to appeal to the captains of industry and development community to participate in this year’s golf tournament and donate generously to the cause of women. Once again, it is pleasing that women will be participating in this tournament, which is intended to address HIV and Cervical cancer among women.” said First Lady.

First Lady also advised the golfers to take the opportunity to support the tournaments in their numbers.

“To the golfers, I appeal to you to come out in your numbers and I wish you all the best of luck. Whatever the result is, you are playing for a noble cause. I will repeat the words of Brooks Koepka that, “As long as every tournament, every year, you are getting better and better, that’s all that matters” added First Lady.
